Elliott Saslow

Durango, Colorado.

I run Mountain Bike Specialists, a downtown bike shop. Before that I moved through engineering physics, computational neuroscience, and data science, then spent years in AI and blockchain while both were still mostly specialist conversations. I tend to get interested in complicated systems and stay with them until I understand how they work.

Currently

Mountain Bike Specialists

In 2026 I bought Mountain Bike Specialists, a longtime shop on Main Avenue in Durango.

Most days are about the ordinary work of running it: service, inventory, staffing, vendors, customers, events, and keeping the place feeling like itself while we try new things — memberships, better e-commerce, clearer merchandising, more community in the shop.

I’ve ridden here for years and coach youth mountain biking. The shop is connected to that, not a side quest from a tech career.

Otherwise

Mostly outside

I coach kids’ mountain biking, ride a lot, and get oddly absorbed in whatever I’m building — software, a shop process, a helmet, a pricing problem. Same habit, different surfaces.
